Mission

Juxtaposition Arts develops community by engaging and employing young urban artists in hands-on education initiatives that create pathways to self-sufficiency while actualizing creative power.

I'll be a part of JXTA as long as it keeps teaching me things. I'm always able to have conversations here that I can't have anywhere else.

Vision & Values

WE ENVISION THE YOUTH OF NORTH MINNEAPOLIS ENTERING THE WORKFORCE AS DYNAMIC INNOVATORS AND PROBLEM-SOLVERS.

We believe the integrative problem-solving abilities learned through the hands-on creative process of moving from idea, to production, to market are the skills young people need to succeed in school, in work, and in life. We believe sustained participation in community-focused creative expression powerfully advances the development of individuals, communities, and places.

History

For over two decades Juxtaposition Arts has mentored North Minneapolis youth artists with the help of industry professionals to foster the creativity and acumen of the next generation of artists.

FY 2017 - 2018 Annual Report

This 32-page illustrated graphic novel-style annual report was fully developed and produced in-house. The project took inspiration from the graphic novel format in order to carry the story in a narrative form that echoes JXTA’s culture and ethos. The bulk of this book’s illustrations were created by JXTA apprentice Patricio De Lara, with support and art direction from Graphic Design Lab Lead Greta Kotz. Content direction was led by Communications Manager Gabby Coll, in collaboration with Development Manager Takara Henegar and JXTA Directors DeAnna Cummings and Roger Cummings.
