From The Back of The Bus Opening Exhbition- Jasper Duberry
ABOUT THE SHOW
Jasper Duberry’s latest exhibition explores the complexities of the Black experience in America through the dynamic art of woodcut relief printing. His work delves into themes of pain, joy, excellence, healing, and resistance, while also serving as a platform for education by shedding light on pivotal moments and figures in history.
In the spirit of spreading his knowledge, this winter, Duberry collaborated with youth artists in JXTA’s VALT 2 program, sharing insights into his creative process and leading a hands-on demonstration of relief printing. Inspired by his techniques, JXTA’s young artists created their relief prints—portraits of local cultural figures from North Minneapolis and beyond—which will be displayed alongside Duberry’s work!
Get ready for a beautiful night of fine art and the opportunity to meet the artist! Join us for refreshments and appetizers while experiencing this powerful exhibition. Jasper will be in person to answer questions and provide more insight into his work. This event will coincide with our Winter Open House
