James Gavins is the Director of Programs at JXTA and a proud JXTA alum (2006). He is also a University of Wisconsin–Madison alum and a practicing interdisciplinary artist. James has devoted over a decade to nonprofit leadership and youth arts education, with a strong commitment to creating equitable, creative opportunities for young people. 

Throughout his career, James has worked with the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s First Wave Hip Hop & Urban Arts Scholarship Program, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and numerous other nonprofit organizations, where he has led impactful programming at the intersection of arts, education, and community engagement.
