In 2018 and 2019, the Minneapolis Local Organizing Committee commissioned JXTA for a series of projects in conjunction with the Minneapolis-hosted NCAA Men’s Final Four Tournament in April 2019. As part of the renovation of North Commons Recreation Center funded by the Final Four, JXTA teaching artist Alex Smith custom-painted a mural for the gymnasium space. The youth for whom the facility was built are now featured on a full-scale mural in the basketball court’s Western wall.
