Creative Solution

In 2018 and 2019, apprentices in Tactical Lab conducted research for a Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) project in partnership with the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA) and with funding from Youthprise. The project culminated in the creation of an empathy-building simulation for use in training resource navigators – those who are employed to direct others in crisis to resources. After interviews with resource navigators and other qualitative research to gain an understanding of the systems of assistance for housing instability and eviction, apprentices developed an experience that mirrors this resource navigation in the real world. Apprentices presented their project and simulation at a presentation with CURA in May 2019. JXTA has since been hired by the Pohlad Foundation,  City of Minneapolis’ Department of Regulatory Services, and Bank of America to facilitate the Social Service Run Around.
