These benches were designed and produced by apprentices in Enviro Lab out of a desire to craft a product that is easily reproduced in-house. Made from wood, steel, and concrete, the benches’ concrete legs can be decorated with anything. In this example, apprentices cut out and stamped Adinkra symbols into the concrete. The JXTA “X” steel cutout leg supports came about as a happy accident; the triangular shapes are critical to the benches’ structural integrity, but with a little creative problem-solving from the Enviro Team, they also turned into a unique design and branding element.
